Jack just purchased a 2006 Cirrus SR22, turns out it was located over on the west coast and we "had" to go out to Phoenix, AZ to pick it up. Was a great trip and as always...great learning experience.
We left Monday morning flight out of tampa at 7:30am, that put us in KPHX (Phoenix, AZ) just after 8:30 local. We went and took care of all the documents with the pilot that was delivering the airplane, then fooled around with getting all the GPS databases up to speed (yes, thats my favorite part). We flew to Deer Valley in Phoneix, to have lunch with an old CFI friend of mine. Next stop...Pecos, TX....by the time we got to Pecos we were going to call it a day earlier then planned...turns out Pecos (which is in the middle of nowhere TX) had basically all the hotel rooms in the town sold out! The only two rooms we could find in the whole town...well...were, shall we say "super sketchy" at the least...so on to the next stop! Landed in Austin, and ended up finding rooms at a glorious Hilton...was I happy to be there!
The next morning we had some mechanics in Austin working on some maintenance discrepancies we noticed...made for a late departure. We were out of there in the afternoon...headed to KJKA (Gulf Shores, AL) for a fuel stop...turns out they have a really cool pilot hangout called "Jacks Aces" we ate some pizza there! Food always makes me happy :-)
Last leg back to Tampa, KTPF...arrive home around 10:30pm.
Overall great trip, covered 1600nm, over 10hrs of flight time, and 6 different airports...now Jack has his sweet Cirrus at home in Tampa!
